QUALIFIED TEACHERS PROVIDING HOME SCHOOLING

A parents' guide to home schooling in the UK is available here . Home schooling can offer an exciting and very successful approach to your child's learning. It is estimated that over 50,000 children are home-schooled in the UK and this figure is increasing by 80% a year. The idea of home schooling may seem daunting at first. But most parents are apprehensive because there is so little understanding of how home schooling works and many assumptions and misconceptions surrounding it. As generations of home-schooled children grow up, some never having attended school and continuing their education, university and employment, they are living proof of its success; a lifeline for some whose fate at school may have been prolonged suffering at the hands of bullies, or failure at school because their learning needs were not being met on an individual basis. This is the greatest advantage of home schooling; it gives parents the opportunity to create an education "tailored" to their child's learning needs. Because of its flexibility, parents who attend home schooling have the choice of what, when, where and how their children learn. Fees to support home schooling range from £100 to £500 per week, depending on the shape of the week and the level of education required. Home schooling: early childhood, milestones 1 and 2; usually 8-16 hours per week, from £38 per hour. Home tuition: Key Level 3, GCSE, IGCSE and Level A; usually 2 hours per academic subject per week, from £40 per hour.
